About the Exhibition:

Art @ Curio is an immersive pop-up art exhibition at 134 Canal Street, Boston, MA. This exhibition explores how a group of Boston-area artists approach the complexity of the environment that surrounds them. Inspired by urban and natural worlds, Adria Arch’s biomorphic works are suspended from the ceiling, where they dance and sway. Cicely Carew fashions tactile celebrations of the unknown and offers an understanding of the world that transcends the immediately perceptible. Consisting of countless fragments of hand-cut paper, Alexandra Chiou’s dimensional collages unfold like bouquets of flowers. Alison Judd’s snapshots of layered leaves mark the changeable essence of nature and memory. By meshing words and images, Soyoung L. Kim creates interdisciplinary works that probe the nature of transformation. Matt Murphy’s shaped canvases engage with the wall that supports them, thereby igniting a kinesthetic push and pull that alters and animates their architectural backdrop. Inspired by cellular structures and networks, Gupi Ranganathan examines continuously fluctuating topologies of space and time. And lastly, working with a limited palette of only four colors, Michael Zachary’s pixelated waterscapes capture the transformation inherent to flowing bodies of water. Proceeds of sales of these artworks directly benefit Boston Art Review (BAR).

This exhibition also features artworks generously donated by artists and galleries to BAR’s writer’s fund for their 10th Anniversary Benefit Art Sale.

This project is facilitated by art_works in partnership with Workflow.
